TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa County Democratic Party is anxiously awaiting a visit from Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Saturday, June 2. The highly anticipated visit will give area Democrats the opportunity to support the effort to re-elect President Obama. The well-known Florida congresswoman and Democratic spokesperson will join area Democrats for breakfast from 10 am to noon on June 2 at Fassler Hall, 304 South Elgin, in downtown Tulsa.
“We’re incredibly proud that our efforts here in Tulsa have gotten the attention of the DNC Chairwoman. It is exiting to be able to offer our supporters the opportunity to meet such a highly-respected Democrat" said Michael Whelan, Vice Chairman of the Tulsa County Democratic Party. “The $25 ticket price reflects our intention to give Tulsans from all walks of life the chance to join in the celebration and contribute to the President’s re-election.”
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has served the public for more than 18 years, and is widely known as a leading advocate for legislation supporting women and children on health, legal, economic and educational issues. She is the first female to serve as National Committee Chair, and was the first Jewish Congresswoman elected from Florida. A popular guest on national television shows like “Meet the Press” and “The Daily Show” she continues to be a strong voice in articulating Democratic priorities to the public and the press.
One Democratic Legislator is particularly excited to meet the Chairwoman. “I am simply over the moon,” said Senator Judy Eason McIntyre. “Congresswoman Schultz has been a hero of mine for years. We are so proud to have such a tireless advocate for women’s issues here to spend time with Democrats in Tulsa.”
All proceeds from the event go to the Obama Victory Fund, which is a combined effort between the Obama campaign and the DNC.
