Signs of Change – A Sign-Making Potluck Party!
Ok, this is going to be really fun.
Ever get tired of seeing the same old boring yard signs all over the place during election season? Well, Amanda has vowed to represent ALL Oklahomans– So at this event, everyone will get to make their own, extremely unique and customized campaign sign to display in your yard or business for the last 10 days of the primary season!
We’re thinking really creative, attention-grabbing signs with slogans like:
“Amanda Douglas represents ME”
“Amanda Douglas approves this awesome sign”
Or there’s always traditional messaging, like “Vote Amanda Douglas for Congress – June 26th”.
Whatever you choose– it’s up to you!
Bring whatever materials, scraps, and art supplies you have around the house to pool and share with everyone. You’ll be amazed what people can make from things you’d have thrown away!
Remember, these are short-term signs, so they don’t have to be super durable or long-term weather-proof. Gather and bring things like:
– Wooden pallets
– Fence pickets
– Scrap Wood / plywood
– Stencils for lettering / images
– Cardboard (pieces or boxes)
– Poster boards
– Dowel rods / sticks
– Wire Hangers
– Glue / super glue / hot glue / other adhesives
– Paint (this can be old house paint, fingerpaints, acrylic or tempra paints, anything you have!)
– Paint brushes
– Tape (duct tape, packing tape, masking tape, scotch tape, etc.)
– Spray paint (don’t forget about partially-used cans that you’re done with)
– Construction paper
– Scrapbooking supplies
– Modge Podge
– Anything else you can think of!
Any unused, recyclable materials will be taken to the appropriate recycling location by our staffers after the event, so you get the added benefit of reducing landfill waste, and helping the environment!
If you don’t have any materials to bring, that’s no problem at all– just bring along a snack to share instead, and come join in the fun!
Please RSVP if you can make it (and if you can let us know what kind of materials you can bring, that would be really helpful!)
